Mariners Win, 5-0, at Houston
|
The Seattle Mariners got a strong performance from pitcher Jeffrey Montgomery, who stymied the Houston offense en route to a win, 5-0, at Minute Maid Park. Montgomery, now 2-2, was the winner. In 5 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 1, walking 3, and allowing no runs. The loss makes Houston 12-12.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Grady Arredondo? The Seattle center fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Mariners on top, 1-0. For the game, Arredondo had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Montgomery told the Seattle Gazette.
