Giants Handle Nationals, 11-7
|
Luis Miranda was a major factor in the 11-7 San Francisco win over Washington. The Giants first baseman went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Despite the defeat, Washington still has a fine 19-7 record.
Miranda contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for San Francisco in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Miranda took a slider from Dan Gallaghe and stroked the double to right-center. His 4th double of the season allowed the Giants to leap in front, 2-1.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said San Francisco skipper Tim Ackley.
