Rays Lose By a Run at Seattle, 3-2
|
Seattle Mariners starter Martin Davis was in fine form against the Tampa Bay Rays at Mariner Ballpark, leading his team to a win, 3-2. Davis picked up the win for Seattle, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 4-1. The loss drops the Rays to 12-14.
Rob Altobelli dealt the Rays a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Seattle trailing 1-0, Altobelli, who is tied for 7th in the AL in hits with 33, hit a 1-0 slider for a 2-run single.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Seattle skipper Sean Morgan.
