Tanner, Orr Suspended for Fracas Thursday, July 31st , 2070 Yesterday at Gwinnett County Ballpark Mathew Tanner and Bill Orr got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Gwinnett Braves and Buffalo Bisons. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Tanner will have to sit out 4 while Orr would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Currently Tanner has 17 home runs and a .258 batting average. Currently Orr has a 6-8 won-lost record in 16 starts with a 4.66 ERA. He also has 106 strikeouts in 106.1 innings. |
