Parkinson Shuts Out Rochester
Thursday, August 21st , 2070
In an outstanding mound performance, Gwinnett Braves starter Jack Parkinson fired a complete-game shutout against the Rochester Red Wings at Gwinnett County Ballpark today.
Parkinson was the key to the Braves's 4-0 win. The 24-year-old left-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 7 hits and 2 walks he allowed.
"7 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."
Parkinson has gone 8-6 this season with an ERA of 5.17 and 67 strikeouts in 116.2 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .289 against him.
