Rubén Martínez Injured, Out for Season Thursday, August 7th , 2070 The doctors have spoken and Rubén Martínez of the Altoona Curve didn't like what he heard. The 27-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Martínez sustained his season-ending injury during the Portland Sea Dogs game yesterday at Hadlock Field. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Altoona medical staff reported Martínez had a stretched elbow ligament and would be absent from the lineup for at least 11 months. This season Martínez has made 25 relief appearances, recorded 3 saves and compiled a 2-2 won-lost mark and a 4.86 ERA. In pitching 53.2 innings, he has totaled 45 strikeouts and 26 walks. |
