Peterson Packs a Wallop -- Hits 3 HR Against Yard Goats
Tuesday, August 12th , 2070
Cecil Peterson went on an explosive hitting spree against the Hartford Yard Goats at Prince George's Stadium today, launching a trio of blasts to lead the Bowie Bay Sox to the 8-5 win.
The catcher finished 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored and 6 runs batted in.
"It was just one of those days," Peterson said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball."
Hartford skipper said Peterson was "locked-in."
"We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him."
Cecil Peterson walked in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Chuck O'Ferral in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Rob Morris in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off Claudio Torres in the 7th.
This season Peterson is batting .251 with 18 home runs. He has scored 50 runs and driven in 52.
