Gabriel Cracks 3 HR for Generals
Thursday, June 18th , 2071
Jackson Generals third baseman Jorge Gabriel sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Huntsville Stars, Gabriel told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Gabriel pushed the Generals past the Stars, 8-3. To go along with the homers, he collected 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Gabriel told reporters after the game.
Jorge Gabriel hit a solo-shot off Javier Pueblo in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Javier Pueblo in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Takehide Fujii in the 6th and walked in the 7th.
This season Gabriel is batting at a .203 clip with 8 home runs and 23 RBIs.
