Lancaster-High Desert Fight Results in Suspensions Monday, July 24th, 2051 Yesterday at Clear Channel Stadium Kevin Woodard and Jim Unknown got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Lancaster JetHawks and High Desert Mavericks. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Woodard will have to sit out 5 while Unknown would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. In 63 games Woodard is hitting .245 this season with 58 hits, 4 home runs, 26 RBIs, 17 walks, .306 OBP and has scored 28 runs. |
