Thurman Swings for the Cycle
Saturday, May 2nd , 2071
Mark Thurman truly did it all at Grayson Stadium today.
The Savannah Sand Gnats center fielder hit for the cycle -- collecting 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run -- as he paced his club to victory, 12-5 over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
"You know that sweet sound you hear when you hit the ball just right? I heard that every time today," Thurman said later. "It was a heck of a feeling."
It was a game good enough for him to make a little history. He bombed Pensacola pitching for 4 hits in 5 at-bats and his name will now go into the record books. Thurman also racked up 7 runs batted in and 2 runs scored in the game.
Mark Thurman singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Jim Valadez in the 7th and hit a two-run triple in the 8th.
This year Thurman is hitting at a .300 pace with 4 home runs and 12 RBIs. He has played in 21 games and scored 13 times.
