3 Bombs for Walt Conner
Tuesday, May 5th , 2071
Walt Conner went on an explosive hitting spree against the Greensboro Grasshoppers at NewBridge Bank Park today, launching a trio of blasts to lead the Lexington Legends to the 5-3 win.
The right fielder finished 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored and 4 runs batted in.
"It was just one of those days," Conner said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball."
Greensboro skipper said Conner was "locked-in."
"We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him."
Walt Conner hit a two-run home run off Dan Ashley in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Dan Ashley in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Bob Grady in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
Conner is hitting at a .290 mark this season. His stats show 6 home runs, 13 RBIs and 19 runs scored. He has played 25 games for the Legends.
