Ortíz Shines in 11-0 Gem Wednesday, July 1st , 2071 It wasn't easy but Ignacio Ortíz made it look that way. Ortíz silenced the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 11-0, in a Rocket City Trash Pandas triumph at Eastwood Field today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Ortíz said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 1 walk and 6 hits. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else." Ortíz has taken the mound for no relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 8-3 record with a 4.31 ERA. The Rocket City reliever has limited opposing batters to a .271 batting average. |
