Ironbirds End Sanders's Streak Thursday, June 26th , 2070 Guy Sanders, second baseman for the State College Spikes, gave it a good try, but his time chasing history came to an end when he went hitless in 4 tries against the Aberdeen Ironbirds today. Not only did the Ironbirds break his 20-game hitting streak, they also beat State College by the score of 13-8. "Now that the streak has ended, I can admit I'll breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat," Sanders said, speaking with the media after the game. "It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate." This season in 55 games Sanders is batting .357 with 12 home runs, 46 RBIs and has scored 51 times. |
