Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl Saturday, June 27th , 2071 Yesterday at Dehler Park Raúl Salas and Gilberto Ruíz got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Lynchburg Distillers and Dundee Crocodiles. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Salas will have to sit out 4 while Ruíz would be given a 8-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. This season Salas has delivered 8 hits in 16 at-bats for a .500 average with 1 home run. He is getting on base at a .680 clip and his totals also include 8 RBIs and 5 runs scored. This year Salas has played in 5 games. |
