Johnston Bangs Out 5 Base Hits
Tuesday, July 14th , 2071
It takes more than one player to win a baseball game - as proven by Rich Johnston of the GCL Athletics.
The GCL right fielder gave it his all and dominated Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp pitching today at Papago Park Sports Facility, finishing with a great 5-for-5 line. However, when the game ended, the scoreboard showed the Jumbo Shrimp going home the winner, 9-4.
"There's no point gloating about a 5-hit day in a loss," Johnston said later. "A loss just means you should have done more. Maybe I should have hit 5 home runs instead."
Rich Johnston singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Eugenio Gonzáles in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year Johnston is hitting .362 with 3 home runs and 10 RBIs in 12 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .439 with 8 walks and 12 runs scored.
