Rays Slip Past New York, 5-4
|
New York wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Skyler Nash, falling to the Tampa Bay Rays, 5-4. Nash threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The win belonged to Andres Munoz in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Ryan DiSibio took the loss for New York. The Rays sport a record of 16-23.
The Rays got a clutch hit from third baseman Chris Brewster. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Rays.
"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Tampa Bay field general Jimmy Wood.
