Phillies Nip Braves, 6-5
|
The Philadelphia Phillies weathered a fine game by Atlanta third baseman Jordan Cabral to upend the Braves, 6-5, at Citizens Bank Park. Cabral belted 3 home runs. Philadelphia is in third place in the National League East Division with a record of 29-34.
In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 5-5, pinch hitter Alex Agurre won it for Philadelphia. With the bases loaded, Agurre hit a full count curveball from Mat Sowell for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 6-5 win.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Agurre said in his postgame press conference.
