Philadelphia Rallies for 6-4 Win
|
The Philadelphia Phillies withstood an impressive performance by Miami first baseman Chris Newton to defeat the Marlins, 6-4, at Citizens Bank Park. Newton went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Picking up his 16th save was 32-year old right-handed pitcher Brian Villeneuve. The win puts Philadelphia at 29-49.
Philadelphia took a 6-4 lead on Bill Burns's 1st triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which Burns hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Miami pitcher Chris Berth visibly frustrated.
"I know we have our doubters," said Miami manager Steven Luker. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
