Twins Use Late Rally to Win
|
Mincho Maeda pitched a gem to lead Minnesota to victory over the Tampa Bay Rays, 3-1. The win was credited to 30-year old right-handed pitcher Brent Franklin in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Luis Villarreal took the loss. Picking up the save was Eric Halbach. He's now 7 for 10 in save chances.
Joe Jennings, who is tied for 10th in the AL with a .533 slugging percentage, chipped in a solo home run for Minnesota in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the first baseman had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
In postgame remarks, Jennings hailed his team's "single-minded determination."
The win puts Minnesota at 27-52.
