Streaking Giants Win Another One, 5-2
|
San Francisco Giants starter Rich Sparks pitched his team past the Arizona Diamondbacks, 5-2. Sparks, now 8-5, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 10, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. Danny Ocha was called on to finish, recording his 3rd save.
San Francisco used a well-timed hit by Billy Cardenales to capture the win. The third baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Giants ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"We'll enjoy this ride as long as it lasts," said Giants manager Vic Black.
San Francisco has 8 straight wins, Arizona 3 straight losses.
