Josh Gunnin had a good game, but he could not keep the Washington Nationals from falling, 6-3, to the Atlanta Braves at Nationals Park. The Washington shortstop went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once in the loss. Atlanta pitcher Ricky Dempsey got the win. He's now 3-1. Sixto Sanchez was tagged with the loss. The Braves, now 50-66, have won 7 in a row.

Atlanta third baseman Jordan Cabral contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a changeup into right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 111st hit of the season and put the Braves ahead, 4-3.

"Winning breeds more winning, I guess," said Cabral.
