Blue Jays Turn Back Orioles, 5-3
|
The Toronto Blue Jays picked up a win at Rogers Centre, topping the Baltimore Orioles, 5-3. On the mound for Toronto was right-hander Danny Richardson. He played a principal role in the triumph. Richardson, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks. The save went to Todd Buonadonna, number 2 for him.
The Blue Jays got a big at-bat from catcher Luis Mosso. For the game, Mosso went 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Toronto a 2-0 lead.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Richardson. "Successful pitchers do it."
The win gives Toronto a record of 3-3.
