Mariners Topple Red Sox, 7-4, as Franco Shines
|
Seattle and Boston got after it at Fenway Park.
Seattle shortstop Wander Samuel Franco had a 4-RBI performance, which helped his team down the Boston Red Sox, 7-4. The winning pitcher was Tom McCracken. He's now 2-0. He went 5.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 8 hits for the Mariners.
An important at-bat for Seattle came with no one out in the top of the sixth. With the bases loaded, Franco hit a grand slam home run, which contributed to the Mariners win.
"We take it day by day here," said Franco, "and today was a good one for us."
Seattle is now 17-3.
