Fans watched the Long Island Lightning and the Cascadia Killer Whales fight to the finish.
The Long Island Lightning earned a close win over the Cascadia Killer Whales, thanks in part to Pelanekelina Vanda. The Long Island right-hander, who finished 3rd in the FRL in wins with 15 in 2040, played a key role in the 2-1 victory. Mike Lyons closed it out for his 4th save.
Bobby Hoyt, who is tied for 7th in the FRL with a .378 on-base percentage, had a direct impact on the outcome. Hoyt contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Long Island up, 2-1.
"We busted our tails," said Cascadia manager Enok Jeppesen. "But we came up short."
The setback makes Cascadia 42-48.
