Gamecocks Saddle Silvertips with 6-1 Loss
|
The Huntington Beach College Gamecocks picked up a win at Gamecocks Ballpark, taking down the Richmond College Silvertips, 6-1. Starting pitcher Brian Hermanson was a big reason why. Hermanson, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 1 walk. The loss makes Richmond College 6-9.
Huntington Beach College center fielder Steve Wills contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a changeup into right field for a 2-run single. It was his 8th hit of the season and put the Gamecocks ahead, 5-1.
In postgame comments to the Huntington Beach College Daily News, Wills said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
