Brian Simpson pitched a gem to lead Omaha College to victory over the Amarillo College Islanders, 5-1. The 20th-place Oceanics improved to 19-28.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Fletcher Mason? The Omaha College right fielder had a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Oceanics on top, 2-1. For the game, Mason had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"Brian -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Oceanics manager Bobby Sinnott. "He was the key to us winning."
