Bluebirds Win, 2-1, at Burnaby College
|
Burnaby College Grounds was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
Pitcher Kevin Bugden was sensational for the Des Moines College Bluebirds in his team's 2-1 triumph over the Burnaby College Cornhuskers. Bugden picked up the win, and it was well-earned. Bugden, the winner, moves to 5-2. He threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Xavier Briggs was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Ron Thomas had a critical at-bat with no one out in the top of the eighth. The Des Moines College catcher came through with a run-scoring single to put Des Moines College in front, 2-0.
"I know we have our doubters," said Burnaby College manager Mike Chesnut. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
The Cornhuskers, now 21-25, have lost 4 in a row.
