Nelson Stars for Hammerheads in 8-5 Win
Michael Nelson made an impact in the 8-5 Portland College win over Richmond College. Nelson went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Portland College reliever Robin Malone picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-1. Floyd Lockyer was collared with the loss. Earning his 13th save of the year was Brian Linseman.

A critical at-bat came in the top of the eighth inning when the Hammerheads sent 19-year-old center fielder Jonah Stuart to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to put Portland College on top, 7-5.

"Feels good to get the job done," Nelson said after the game.

The Hammerheads now own a record of 23-32.
