Fans who came to Ballpark of San Bernardino College watched the Oakland College Tomcats and the San Bernardino College Gems fight to the finish.

San Bernardino College got a terrific performance from center fielder Marty Critch, but it wasn't enough to beat the Oakland College Tomcats. Oakland College won the Ballpark of San Bernardino College contest, 5-4. Critch was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Doyle Uttley got the win, improving to 8-3. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 9 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 8 and walking 1. Tim Horning earned the save for Oakland College, his 2nd of the year.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and one out in the top of the fourth inning. That's when designated hitter Eddie Cote got hit by a pitch. The Tomcats went on to win.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Cote told the Oakland College Daily. "You win just by scoring more runs."

The Gems have now dropped 5 straight.
