The Big Island Volcanoes got a sterling performance from pitcher Chris Kirby, but the Tarpon Springs Yeehaas still prevailed, 10-4. Kirby threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. The win has Tarpon Springs at 16-29.
Don Collier was a prime contributor to the Tarpon Springs win. He was 1 for 1 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the ninth with one out, the 26-year old left fielder hit a 2-run double. It made the score 4-3, in favor of the Yeehaas.
"It's not about individual awards," Collier told a Tarpon Springs Daily reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
