The Oil Well was the site for Whitey Ford action featuring the Buffalo Stampede and Madison Mallards.

The Madison Mallards picked up a win at The Oil Well, knocking off the Buffalo Stampede, 6-3. Starting pitcher Chad Van Deest played a key role in the triumph. Madison pitcher Sean McFarlen got the win, upping his record to 5-1. Charlie Davidson got the loss. Steve Lewis earned the save, his 23rd.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Eric Foster had a game-changing hit. The Mallards designated hitter slammed a run-scoring single off Charlie Davidson, making the score 2-1, Madison.

"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Van Deest. "Just do my job."

The Stampede, at 53-71, have lost 4 straight games.
