The Akron Aeros beat the Mesquite Spiders, 6-4, at The Habitat. The Aeros got a fine performance from first baseman Kevin Lubin, who was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs. Phil Dempster notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. His record now sits at 2-1. Vince Reece nailed down his 17th save.
Oscar Covarrubias helped out the Akron cause in the top of the third inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the right fielder drew 1 walk.
"We want to make a habit of winning," Covarrubias said after the game.
The Aeros saw their record improve to 70-62.
