Blue Wahoos Collect 6-5 Win Over Pioneers
|
The Anaheim Blue Wahoos beat the Redwood Pioneers, 6-5, in 11 innings. Anaheim right fielder Jim Hayek, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 4 for 5 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 3. The winner was Anaheim reliever Tommy Plante, now 5-3. The loser was John Verhoeven. Anaheim now owns a record of 59-76.
It could have been a different outcome for Anaheim, had it not been for Jordan Jackson, the 21-year old third baseman . Jackson contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the 11th inning to put Anaheim up, 6-5.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Juan Lopez, the Anaheim manager.
