Leafs C Helmer belts 2 home runs in Win
|
The Kitakyushu HS Leafs beat the Nashville HS Vipers, 16-4, at Kitakyushu HS Grounds. Kitakyushu HS catcher Kevin Helmer had an outstanding performance. He was 4-6 with 2 home runs and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 9. Takehiro Suzuki, who went 5.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 7 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 3-0. At 7-8, Kitakyushu HS is in 6th place in the Martin & Lewis John Candy.
With Kitakyushu HS leading 6-0 in the bottom of the second, Helmer came up to bat against Nashville HS pitcher Jeremy Streets. Helmer hit a sinker to left for a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Leafs on top, 10-0.
