Baltimore Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
The Baltimore Orioles nearly wasted a strong game from starter Shizuki Ueno, but were saved by some timely hitting in a 9th inning walk-off win over the Oakland Athletics today.
Ueno pitched well in the 3-2 win at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. He threw 5.2 innings allowing 2 runs. The win allowed Baltimore to seize a 2-0 lead in the best-of-5 Division Series.
Tony Tamayo was the walk-off hero for Baltimore. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Orioles catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It was a good effort all around," said Ueno.
Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at Cisco Coliseum in Oakland.
