Seattle Tops Kansas City Again, 5-4
The Seattle Mariners went into extra innings against the Kansas City Royals but ultimately moved to within one game of the League Championship Series today. The Mariners downed the Royals at Kauffman Stadium by a score of 5-4. Seattle right-hander José Gutiérrez had a solid outing. He threw 5.1 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Mariners a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.

Seattle used the clutch hitting of Adhamhnan Alisjahbana to capture the win. The catcher drilled a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to give the Mariners the lead, 4-2. For the game, Alisjahbana had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"I liked his command," said Seattle manager Vince Smith. "José was throwing strikes."

Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at Safeco Field in Seattle.
