Brewers Top Cardinals 8-4 to Begin LCS
|
The Milwaukee Brewers started the League Championship Series in style today, winning on the road against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium by a score of 8-4 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Brewers left fielder Benny Mlot excelled. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
It could have been a different outcome for Milwaukee, had it not been for Bob Kluesner, the 28-year old center fielder . Kluesner contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put Milwaukee up, 4-2.
Cardinals manager Brad Thornton did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the World Series."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
