Nationals Double Up Detroit, 4-2
|
Getting an impressive start from Artie Wright, Washington beat Detroit by the score of 4-2. Washington pitcher Jorge Martínez got the win, upping his record to 4-3. Ron Edwards got the loss. The win makes Washington 32-20.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Al Brown came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Detroit pitcher Ron Edwards, he hit a 1-2 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Washington on top, 3-2.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Wright.
