Flying Fish Lose By a Run at Bluefield
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Bluefield Blue Jays and the Ft. Lauderdale Flying Fish, José Silva was the X factor. The Bluefield right-hander spearheaded the 1-0 win. Silva, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing no runs. The loss lowers the Ft. Lauderdale record to 2-1.
The Blue Jays got a big at-bat from center fielder Jesús Morales. For the game, Morales went 1 for 4 with a home run. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Bluefield a 1-0 lead.
"I'm happy we won," said Silva. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
