Punches Come Back Late to Clip Blue Jays
|
Starting pitcher Brice Girard pitched well enough to help the Curacao Punches beat the Bluefield Blue Jays, 4-3. The 6th-place Punches have a record of 6-8.
Curacao got a knockout punch from Rusty Payne. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Girard, "and then get after it again."
