Port Allen and Bluefield got after it at Repentigny Grounds.
The Port Allen Jethros racked up a win at Repentigny Grounds, bumping off the Bluefield Blue Jays, 3-1. Rubén Leyva, who started for Port Allen, pitched effectively for his team. With the win, Port Allen upped its record to 10-8.
Port Allen used a well-timed hit by Charlie Morris to capture the win. The third baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Jethros ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"We've been playing some good baseball," Morris told the Port Allen Bulletin. "We're aggressive and focused on what we're going to do on the field and getting it done."
