The Palo Alto Palominos beat the Indianapolis ABCs, 5-4, in part because of third baseman Phil Todd. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs. The winner in relief was Edwin Cameron. He is now 8-3. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. Palo Alto has now won 6 straight.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Palo Alto pinch hitter Dave Baker, facing Steve Garner, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Palominos the 5-4 win.

"We're trying to go out there and win games," Todd told the Palo Alto Daily News, "and we played pretty well tonight."
