In a low-scoring tilt between the Stafford Drillers and the San Juan Coquis, Jorge Costa, who is tied for 6th in the CL with a 8.4 K/9 rate, was the difference-maker. The Stafford right-hander spearheaded the 1-0 win. Costa got the win, improving to 9-8. He gave up 7 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed no runs. Gene González recorded the save, his 21st.
The Drillers got a big at-bat from second baseman Kevin Miles. For the game, Miles was 1-2 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season gave Stafford a 1-0 lead.
"That's us at our best," Miles told the Stafford Daily. "Pitching and trying to prevent runs."
At 50-59, the Drillers claim 4th place in the Cobbs League West Division.
