Evergreens Claim 5-4 Win
|
The Foreston Evergreens dealt the Beaver Fighters a 5-4 loss at Ballpark of Beaver. Dave Gibbs, who is tied for 9th in the WL in triples with 1, was the star on offense. He went 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles. Irving Rosado, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save. At 23-19, the Evergreens claim second place in the Wagners League East Division.
José Canó had a big 2-run home run for the Evergreens in the top of the third inning. With Foreston leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 18-year old right-handed pitcher Edgardo De Los Santos and punished it. The result was his 14th home run of the season, which put the Evergreens on top, 3-0.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Canó told the Foreston News.
