Evergreens Earn Late 6-5 Win
|
The Foreston Evergreens topped the Knoxville Knickerbockers, 6-5, with youngster Kevin Baker playing a key role. Baker was 1-5 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Evergreens in the win. With the victory, the Evergreens record stands at 26-22.
Foreston used the timely hitting of José Roel to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Evergreens on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Enjoyed this one," Baker told the Foreston News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
