At Fenway Park, the Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Boston Red Sox stopped the Atlanta Braves, 8-3, behind an impressive performance from Geoff Clements. The three-time Golden Glove Award winner made life miserable for Atlanta pitching. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Bob Vickers was the winner. Over 7 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.

The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Clements hit a 2-run home run off Thom Brady. It propelled the Red Sox into the lead, 4-2.

"We came out aggressive," said Red Sox manager Lino Cannan. "We came out swinging the bats."

The win puts the Red Sox at 43-34, while the Braves drop to 30-47.
