Drooping Pioneers Lose 7th Straight
|
Ballpark of Otsego featured a tense pitchers' duel.
The El Centro Imperials earned a close win over the Chicago Pioneers, thanks in part to Alfredo Pérez. The El Centro right-hander played a key role in the 2-1 victory. Pérez picked up the win for El Centro, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1.
El Centro used a clutch hit from Tim Riley to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Imperials ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a doozy.
"Come up with some new questions," snapped losing manager to reporters, "and I'll come up with some new answers."
At 31-30, the Imperials claim 4th place in the Bakers League West Division.
