Blue Jays Defeat Firewalkers in 10
The Bluefield Blue Jays picked up a win at Repentigny Grounds, taking down the Machiasport Firewalkers, 1-0, in 10 innings. On the mound for Bluefield was left-hander Dan Owens. He played a central role in the triumph. Bluefield reliever Alex Mills picked up the win, upping his record to 3-9. Curt Thornton took the loss. Bluefield now sits at 23-45, while Machiasport falls to 35-33.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Bluefield. That's when Stu Edwards hit a solo home run off 21-year old right-handed pitcher Curt Thornton to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"It's so much easier when you throw good pitches," said Owens.
