Irrelevants Dismiss Timber Rattlers, 4-2
|
Despite the rain, the fans at Flying Monkeys Ballpark enjoyed a good ballgame.
The Indianapolis Irrelevants withstood a fine game by Stafford catcher Tan-ming Kung at Flying Monkeys Ballpark, to upend the Timber Rattlers, 4-2. Kung went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. Jorge Encinas was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Jesús Ruíz.
The Irrelevants got a big at-bat from shortstop Katsuhiko Tanaka. For the game, Tanaka went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Indianapolis a 2-0 lead.
In postgame remarks, Tanaka hailed his team's "single-minded focus."
The victory gives Indianapolis a record of 10-8.
