Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Reykjavik Víkingur Skáld and Burnettown Shamrocks.

Reykjavik Víkingur Skáld starter Geoff Ward was in the groove. He led his team to a win over the Burnettown Shamrocks, 2-1. The winner was Ward. He threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Oscar Carney. Reggie Malone earned save number 3.

Reykjavik first baseman Steve Wilson contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 22nd hit of the season and put the Víkingur Skáld ahead, 2-0.

"It was a hard game, a hard night," said Burnettown skipper .

The third-place Víkingur Skáld hiked their record to 12-7.
